I chose the theme hatred because of the hatred that the Nazis had against the Jews. The Nazis killed over 6 million people for no reason other than their religion, and because Hitler wanted someone to blame for Germanys problems. My poem shows the hatred that the Nazis had for the Jews and what the Nazis put all of the Jews through, my poem shows from beginning to end, the story of what they went through and the hatred that they faced. I chose the title Their Hatred Was So Blind because the Nazis cant justify the question, why do you hate the Jews? There is no reasonable explanation for them to kill 6 million people. The Nazis opinion through time changed, in the poem I said, “persecution then execution”. They first accused the Jews of all the bad things then their hatred grows and they start shipping them all off to ghettos, then concentration camps, then to the gas chambers to kill them. My poem explains what they went throughout to survive and at the end I put in “I blame man not god”. I put that in because they believed that for them to survive the holocaust that god had something to do with their survival, and they believe that god would never do something so inhumane. The only one to blame is the Nazis. This poem creates a better understanding of what the survivors when through and the hatred they encountered, and to teach people that hatred should never be blind.
